«Hemos recibido solicitudes de varios gobiernos y de la UE para tomar medidas adicionales en relación con los medios controlados por el estado ruso. Dada la naturaleza excepcional de la situación actual, restringiremos el acceso a RT (Russia Today) y Sputnik en toda la UE en este momento», aseguró en su cuenta de Twitter, Nick Clegg, vicepresidente y responsable de comunicaciones globales de Meta.
«Continuaremos trabajando de cerca con los diferentes gobiernos en este asunto», precisó el político británico liberal y exparlamentario europeo.
Meta, antes conocido como Facebook, es el nombre comercial bajo el que se agrupan varias de las redes sociales más populares del mundo, como el propio Facebook, Messenger, Instagram o WhastApp.
Desde Dublín, su sede europea, Google explicó en su cuenta de Twitter que «debido a la guerra que se desarrolla en Ucrania, hemos bloqueado los canales de YouTube vinculados a RT y Sputnik en toda Europa, con efecto inmediato», reseña EFE.
El mayor portal de búsquedas del mundo agregó que sus equipos continuarán monitoreando la situación durante las 24 horas del día para tomar medidas rápidas.
