El actor Anthony Hopkins y el director Florian Zeller, que triunfaron juntos con «The Father» (2020), unirán de nuevo sus caminos en la cinta «The Son».
El cineasta publicó este lunes un mensaje en Instagram en el que anunció que el rodaje de «The Son» ya concluyó y en el que desveló asimismo que Hopkins, ganador del Oscar al mejor actor por «The Father», forma parte del reparto de esta nueva cinta.
Hugh Jackman, Laura Dern, Vanessa Kirby y Zen McGrath redondean el elenco de «The Son».
Como «The Father», «The Son» es también una adaptación a la gran pantalla de una de las obras teatrales de Zeller.
En este caso, la trama girará en torno a la depresión en la adolescencia y narrará el choque entre Peter (Jackman) y su exmujer Kate (Dern) con su hijo Nicholas (McGrath) en medio.
Cuando anunció este nuevo proyecto el pasado abril, Zeller adelantó que «The Son» es una historia «profundamente humana» y confió en que el público se conmueva con «el viaje de esta familia».
«Tanto Hugh como Laura transmiten de forma natural una gran calidez, compasión y vulnerabilidad para invitar al público a abrazar y sentir cada momento», añadió el dramaturgo y cineasta francés.
«The Father», la ópera prima como director de cine de Zeller, causó sensación en los cines con su brillante y asombroso relato sobre un hombre que padecía demencia.
Impulsada por una impresionante puesta en escena, «The Father» se llevó dos Oscar: mejor actor para Hopkins -con 83 años se convirtió en el intérprete de mayor edad en anotarse la estatuilla- y mejor guion adaptado para Christopher Hampton y Florian Zeller.
Hopkins tenía ya otro galardón de la Academia de Hollywood al mejor actor por su fascinante y aterrador trabajo en «The Silence of the Lambs» (1991).
