El ministro de Comunicación, Freddy Ñáñez, anunció que presentará ante la Asamblea Nacional electa el 6 de diciembre de 2020 un proyecto de ley para regular las redes sociales luego de que Facebook suspendió temporalmente la cuenta de Nicolás Maduro por mentir sobre el coronavirus.
“En Venezuela hay instituciones y leyes que no pueden ser violadas por los contratos que haga una empresa. Por eso vamos a elevar a la Asamblea Nacional un proyecto de ley por la actualización que se hará sobre la Ley Resorte”, expresó Ñáñez en entrevista ofrecida a Telesur.
A su juicio, esta actualización pretende “blindar” la libertad de expresión de Maduro y de los ciudadanos que, según él, ahora no tienen acceso a “información veraz” del gobernante en la red social.
La realidad es que Facebook suspendió la cuenta del líder del chavismo porque pretendió recomendar para el coronavirus el Carvativir, un fármaco que no cuenta con ningún respaldo científico.
“Debido a reiteradas violaciones de nuestras normas, bloqueamos la página por 30 días durante los cuales solo estará en modo de lectura”, indicó un portavoz de Facebook a la AFP.
Pero el gobierno insiste en que fue un acto de censura. “Merece un debate social para que podamos construir y fortalecer las instituciones del Estado. Alemania adelanta una ley poderosa para regular la actividad en las redes sociales, lo hizo Australia, España también. No es un tema ideológico”, subrayó el ministro de Comunicación.
Actualmente en la Asamblea Nacional elegida en diciembre de 2020, reposan 35 anteproyectos de leyes para ser discutidos en este período parlamentario. Destacan la Ley de reforma parcial de la ley de responsabilidad en radio y televisión, medios electrónicos y redes y la Ley de ciberespacio.
