Las autoridades migratorias informaron este lunes que entre enero y agosto de 2021 se han recuperado los cuerpos de 46 migrantes que perdieron la vida durante su travesía por México, según detalló el Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM).
“Entre los meses de enero y agosto de 2021, elementos de Grupos Beta del Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) de la Secretaría de Gobernación han recuperado 46 cuerpos de personas migrantes que fallecieron durante su ingreso y tránsito por territorio mexicano”, apuntó el texto, reseñó EFE.
Destacó que estos decesos se debieron a diversas causas como ahogamiento (22 casos), accidentes, armas de fuego, problemas de salud, deshidratación en el desierto y asaltos.
“La mitad de ellos no portaban algún tipo de identificación, por lo que se encuentran en calidad de desconocidos; del resto, seis son originarios de Honduras, cinco de Guatemala, tres de Haití, tres de Nicaragua, dos de Cuba, y uno de Venezuela, así como tres cuerpos de personas mexicanas”, agregó el comunicado.
De los decesos, 37 correspondían a hombres, 8 mujeres, y un último fallecido se trataba de un varón menor de edad.
Pero la cifra podría ser mucho mayor porque los migrantes enfrentan cada año enormes peligros en su ruta por México debido a la presencia del crimen organizado o a la corrupción de las autoridades.
Apenas el 22 de enero aparecieron 19 cuerpos calcinados, en su mayoría migrantes de Guatemala, en Camargo, en el nororiental estado de Tamaulipas, en un crimen atribuido al crimen organizado.
La región vive una ola migratoria sin precedentes en años y como prueba de ello, Estados Unidos detuvo el pasado julio en su frontera sur a 212.672 indocumentados, la cifra más alta en 20 años.
Las autoridades mexicanas desintegraron este domingo una nueva caravana migrante que partió desde el municipio chiapaneco de Tapachula, en la frontera con Guatemala, y que tenía como destino el norte del país.
Se trataba de la cuarta caravana que, conformada por centenares de personas, intentaba salir desde Tapachula en las últimas semanas, pero todas ellas fueron disueltas por agentes mexicanos, quienes a su vez fueron criticados por varias ONG por el trato que les dieron a las migrantes.
“En la última semana, agentes del INM y de la Guardia Nacional han golpeado y pateado a migrantes; irrumpido en casas privadas; agredido a periodistas y separado familias de migrantes. Si (el presidente Andrés Manuel) López Obrador quiere demostrar que este comportamiento es inaceptable se requieren investigaciones penales”, dijo este lunes en Twitter el director ejecutivo de Human Rights Watch para las Américas, José Miguel Vivanco.
