Un atentado terrorista contra una brigada militar en Cúcuta, en el este de Colombia, dejó este martes 36 heridos, entre ellos dos civiles, informó el ministro de Defensa, Diego Molano, quien dijo que la primera hipótesis apunta a que el ataque fue perpetrado por la guerrilla del ELN.
Molano se trasladó a Cúcuta, capital del departamento de Norte de Santander, donde dijo que, a raíz del ataque con una camioneta bomba en la sede de la Trigésima Brigada del Ejército, “36 personas resultaron heridas hasta el momento, tres de ellas presentaron algún nivel de gravedad y una de ellas ya fue intervenida quirúrgicamente”.
Explicó que la primera hipótesis del que llamó “acto demencial y vil” apunta a que el autor sería la guerrilla del Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN), aunque también se investiga si en el hecho están involucradas las “disidencias de las FARC, del GAO (Grupos Armados Organizados) 33”.
En el departamento de Norte de Santander, limítrofe con Venezuela, hay fuerte presencia del ELN, de las disidencias de las FARC y otros grupos criminales que se disputan el control de las siembras de coca y de las rutas del narcotráfico.
El ministro Molano explicó que una camioneta blanca cargada con explosivos entró a las instalaciones militares con dos hombres que suplantaron a funcionarios públicos y poco después ocurrieron dos explosiones.
La forma como fue perpetrado el ataque es similar al cometido el 17 de enero de 2019 por el ELN, que hizo explotar un carro bomba en la Escuela de Cadetes de Policía General Santander de Bogotá, en el que murieron 22 cadetes, entre ellos una ecuatoriana, y otras 67 personas resultaron heridas.
Según Molano, la primera explosión de hoy ocurrió hacia las 15.10 locales (20.10 GMT) y dos minutos después ocurrió una segunda más fuerte que afectó las edificaciones de la brigada.
“Rechazamos y repudiamos este acto terrorista y vil que buscó atentar contra los soldados de Colombia en la brigada”, enfatizó Molano, quien agregó que los autores “son unos canallas que buscan afectar la integridad de nuestros soldados”.
Ante la gravedad de la situación el presidente colombiano, Iván Duque, también decidió trasladarse a Cúcuta para reunirse “con la cúpula de la fuerza pública y las autoridades de la ciudad y el departamento, para supervisar de manera directa la situación generada en la Trigésima Brigada del Ejército”.
Solidaridad de EEUU
En algunas imágenes aparentemente grabadas dentro de la brigada atacada se ve a un soldado con uniforme estadounidense y un poco de sangre en el rostro, pero el ministro se abstuvo de confirmar a periodistas si en ese lugar hay soldados de ese país.
La embajada de Estados Unidos en Colombia expresó su solidaridad con el Ejército colombiano, pero tampoco hizo referencia a la posible presencia militar extranjera.
“Con dolor y tristeza enviamos nuestra solidaridad a los miembros del Ejército de Colombia heridos en Cúcuta. La cooperación con las Fuerzas Armadas colombianas es uno de los pilares en nuestros esfuerzos por combatir el crimen transnacional en la región”, dijo la embajada en Twitter.
Las explosiones, que se vieron desde barrios vecinos, afectaron especialmente un área de oficinas que, según algunos militares, estaban vacías ya que parte del personal de la brigada, adscrita a la Segunda División del Ejército, está en cuarentena por coronavirus./EFE
