Al menos 20 muertos tras accidente de autobús en norte de Perú

Al menos 20 personas fallecieron y otras 33 resultaron heridas luego de que un autobús de transporte interprovincial cayera por un abismo de unos 100 metros de profundidad en una zona rural de la provincia de Pataz, en el norte de Perú, informaron este jueves fuentes oficiales.

De acuerdo con la información, difundida por la Gerencia Regional de Salud y la agencia oficial Andina, el accidente se produjo durante la tarde de este miércoles en un sector de la carretera conocido como Culebrilla, entre las localidades andinas de Tayabamba y Huancaspata.

El autobús hacía el recorrido desde el distrito de Tayabamba hacia la ciudad de Trujillo, la capital de La Libertad, ubicada a unos 340 kilómetros de distancia, en la costa peruana, reseña EFE.

Medios locales señalaron que la carretera se encontraba en mal estado y llena de lodo, por lo que al parecer el chofer perdió el control y no pudo evitar que el vehículo se saliera de la vía antes de caer por el abismo dando varias vueltas de campana.

La Gerencia Regional de Salud informó que hasta el lugar llegaron brigadistas y trabajadores de salud en ambulancias enviadas desde los hospitales de las localidades de Tayabamba, Santiago de Challas y Huancaspata.
