El gigante mundial de equipamiento deportivo Adidas anunció este martes haber suspendido su patrocinio con la Federación Rusa de Fútbol debido a la invasión de Ucrania, anunció un portavoz.
«Adidas suspende con efecto inmediato su patrocinio con la Federación Rusa de Fútbol», explicó la empresa, que realizó en 2020, 2,9% de su cifra de negocios en la región de Rusia, Ucrania y países de la antigua URSS.
La víspera, la UEFA había roto su contrato con el gigante ruso de la energía Gazprom, estimado en 40 millones de euros y que cubría la Liga de Campeones, las competiciones internacionales organizadas por la instancia del fútbol europeo, así como la Eurocopa-2024.
Esta decisión de Adidas es por tanto otro golpe al fútbol ruso, tras la decisión de la FIFA de excluir al equipo nacional del Mundial-2022, organizado en Catar a finales de año.
Los contratos de los patrocinadores y empresas de equipamiento también se han interrumpido en otros deportes: el fabricante de bicicletas LOOK decidió, al mismo tiempo, poner fin a su patrocinio, iniciado a principios de año, con el equipo ruso Gazprom-RusVelo, miembro de la UCI Pro Team, segunda división del ciclismo en ruta masculino.
Las rupturas de contratos de patrocinio y las medidas de exclusión de deportistas rusos y bielorrusos se multiplican en muchos deportes desde la invasión de Ucrania por Rusia, el jueves pasado.
