La Agencia de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para los Refugiados (Acnur) y la Alcaldía de Guayaquil firmaron el jueves un convenio interinstitucional que beneficiará a extranjeros en esa municipalidad, especialmente a los venezolanos.
El dirigente político venezolano Luis Magallanes será el encargado de movilidad humana extranjera en Guayaquil. Coordinará la inclusión de migrantes y refugiados, de forma gratuita, en los diversos programas asistenciales impulsados por la alcaldía, como los de salud, atención a la mujer y capacitación.
La alcaldesa Cynthia Viteri indicó que estos planes están dirigidos a todos los migrantes que ya están en la ciudad y a los que ingresen desde ahora. “Estaremos encargados de la gente que, viniendo de otros países, viven debajo de puentes o en carpas hechas en cualquier lado”, manifestó, reseñó El Carabobeño.
Magallanes aseguró que en Ecuador hay casi 500 mil migrantes venezolanos, de los que la mitad se encuentran en Guayaquil.
El dirigente, oriundo del estado Carabobo, agradeció la designación y señaló que el cargo ahora le permitirá no solo ayudar a los venezolanos sino a todos los involucrados en migraciones de otras nacionalidades.
El acuerdo también establece la instalación un punto de información de la Acnur en el Terminal Terrestre de Guayaquil para dar a conocer estos servicios y acompañar a los migrantes mientras forman parte de la comunidad guayaquileña.
